Missed Rental

Has a customer called and inquired about an item you don't have in stock?  Maybe it's overbooked for the dates they need it.  Or, maybe you just don't carry that item.  Rental Essentials has made it easy for you to keep track of these items.  

From the Counter menu, you can click Missed Rental when that customer calls or comes into the store and you don't have what they need when they need it.  You can keep track of the customer so you can call them back when it's available.  Just enter the customer name in the customer search field and click the customer's name to add them to the missed rental.


 
Does the customer not exist in your customer list?  No problem.  Just click the + New Customer button to the right of customer search field and enter their information.  Refer to our Add New Customer document for help on adding a new customer.

Don't want to link a customer to the item?  No problem.  Just click No Customer next to the customer search field and no customer will be linked to this item.


Once you select the customer or choose No Customer, you now have the ability to add the different fields.  If this is an inventory item you rent but just don't have any available when the customer needs it, you will select the item from the Item drop down menu that appears by typing in the name in the search field that appears once the drop is clicked.


If the item is an item that you just don't keep in your inventory, leave the Item drop down as N/A and type in the item name in the Item Name field located right below the Item drop down menu.


Don't forget to enter the quantity the customer requested and the approximate rental amount.  
 


Once everything from the Item Information section is completed, you want to enter a reason from the Reason drop down.  


If you want to keep track of more informational facts about this item request, you can by entering the Contact Type and any Notes in the Details section.,
 


Don't forget to click Save.  Want to see a list of any missed rental items so you can see what needs to be purchased?  You can find the Missed Rentals report within the Transaction Reports found in Admin-Reports.  If you're looking for a particular item, you can enter that in the Item Name field.  Or, you can leave it blank and all missed rented items will appear.  

Want to see the missed rentals within a certain date range?  Be sure to enter those dates in the Created Start and Created End date fields.  Or, you can leave at the default dates, if you choose.  Click Run Report and now you will see a list of how many times a certain missed rental item or all missed rental items was requested.  This will show you all details entered when adding the missed rental.
