From the Workbench, you want to bring up the transaction in question by clicking on the dates in the center of the screen. Once the transaction is brought up, click Collect Payment located under the Totals section. NOTE: The transaction must be in Reservation status before you are able to collect payment.
Select Card as the payment method in the Payment Method drop down.
Once Card is selected as the payment method, you will have a second drop down in which you will select either Manual Entry or Swipe Card. NOTE: You will only have the Swipe Card option if you have a credit card terminal and it is connected to communicate with Essentials. If you have a credit card terminal and it is not connected to communicate with Essentials, click HERE to reach out to our credit card support team.
Enter the amount to collect and click Save.
If you don't have a credit card terminal, the payment screen will generate. You will enter the card information and click Process.
If you do have a credit card terminal, the terminal will react asking the customer to insert, swipe or tap for Apple or Samsung Pay. Once the transaction is approved, the customer will sign on the credit card terminal which will then come over to Essentials as approved.
Congratulations! You have now collected payment via credit card and the transaction is paid in full. The customer now has an encrypted token of the credit card information on their record for future rentals, charges for damages, late fees or lost items.
